I'm a graduate of the University of Puget Sound with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (choral & general emphasis). I love baking, cake decorating, and spending time with friends. I am a music teacher with Music Together, and recently returned from my adventure as a cast member of Up With People in 2013. I am currently working towards my teaching certificate and Masters from the University of Denver in the hopes of one day teaching elementary music to adorable little kids!
*In returning to my video posts, here's my newest obsession of a song. Just listen to it - I promise it will make you happy! I really want to learn the simple chord accompaniment on my guitar, but the more I look at common pop songs, the more I realize I need to buy a capo! *sigh* Maybe one day when I'm not poor! =P*
Ok! So, I've failed keeping up with my Lenten Blog challenge. Part of me wants to blame my sudden onset of illness, another part of me wants to blame the lack of substantial/interesting posts by the blog I was following, but another part of me knows that I was just flat out lazy and didn't take the time to keep it up. *sigh* At least I did a week, right? And hey, I've kept up with my Facebook challenge and haven't cheated or broken that, so that's always a plus. Yay success!
Anyway, fast and furious update of my life in the past...what...3 weeks?
- Horribly ill with a sinus infection that resulted in 2 trips to Urgent Care (in addition to another trip to my school clinic later) and a very unhappy Amy. Drugs cured that, but boy...I was sufferin'!
- Opera production at school was a drag, but it turned out great, and I'm oh-so-proud of all the leads that made the show wonderful! I just wish the chorus was able to participate more or feel more involved. Can't say I was ever very excited to get out onstage and perform for the whole 10 min. I was on stage. In the back. As a random added part to the show that didn't originally exist. Whoo.
- I got to see my parents when they came up for the opera! Hooray! If only the weather had stayed nicer for them (like it is today! Holy cow is it gorgeous today!)
- I made the woman's a cappella group at school. Check out my youtube channel to see videos of What She Said.
- I've been furiously applying/interviewing for more potential summer jobs. If only I could hear a positive response from ONE of them! My heavens I'm getting anxious!
- The family I babysit for got a new puppy. Talk about puppy heaven! We cuddled and napped together on Wednesday. She's the most relaxed, laid-back pup I've ever met! See?
- My family learned that we get our first ever puppy back! He was raised as a Guide Dog for the Blind and graduated with his partner, Harmeet, back in 2004. We haven't seen him since, but now he's retired, and we get to welcome him back to our family. He'll get to bunk up with Alpine, our 2nd puppy who never managed to get through the program! Whoops! So, we're lucky in that both puppies we've raised will now live in our home! That doesn't happen very often! =) I realized I don't have any pictures of Tadashi on my computer, so I'll just show Tadashi working with his former partner (as taken from the Guide Dogs website - he's famous!).
Other than that, I'm busy with the "end of semester" activities. Hard to believe it's April already! Holy cow how time flies! I've also been intrigued by various baking and crafting blogs as of late, so hopefully in an upcoming post, I'll sample a few of the things I hope to accomplish in the future! If only there were unlimited hours in the day to bake and craft. Wouldn't that be heaven?!?
